Episode 7: My Very Special Interview with Margot Adler ~!
Episode 7: My Very Special Interview with Margot Adler ~!
http://invizweb.sslpowered.com/Shows/Inviz%20Web%20Ep%207.mp3
On a very special episode of the Invisible Web to commemorate Pagan Pride Month, Margot Ader, author of Drawing Down the Moon, the classic survey of Wicca and Neo-Paganism, and a true elder in the Wiccan Neo-Pagan community is interviewed. We discuss her childhood. What is Wicca and Neo-Paganism, and when did she become an active participant in this community? We talk of possible places for magic and fantasy in the world today. Some (in)famous characters are brought up (BOB~!, The Discordians Thornley and Hill, and the Church of All Worlds). As if anyone else will do a spirituality-topicced podcast this week with Witches, pranks, unicorns, THE NECRONOMICON of SIMON (and whether or not He is the MASTER of Disguises, and who he is not), and great Ambient Goth Folk music~!
I, Alan Lee, once again sincerely thank Margot Alder for interview with our show and for all of her work to promote non-mainstream religious movements. Due to technical audio difficulties I was not able to get her to plug her show or appearances. To listen to Margot’s work on Justice Talking and National Public Radio (as a correspondence and regular voice on the Morning Show and All Things Considered, follow the respective links below).

Drawing Down the Moon, the seminal study of the Wiccan and Neo-Pagan spiritual movements during the 1970s has now been revised (a few years back) to give updates on some of the key players as well as provide a directory of web resources to inquiring minds. We have to thank Penguin Books for this~! Margot’s autobiography, Heretic’s Heart, has also been reprinted, by Beacon Press, since 1998. Both can be purchased now at any respectable bookstore across the world.
The ISBN number for Drawing Down the Moon is 0143038192. For Heretic’s Heart search, 0807070998.
I also cordially thank Wendy Rule who has given me permission to use her wonderful music for this humbled show. Wendy Rule is a Melbourne-based Gothic Ambient Folk musical artist, who also happens to be a Witch. This week’s opening is a sample of “Deity” from the album Deity. The ending theme is “La Femme de la Mer.” You can learn more about Wendy by visiting her website or Myspace page as listed below:
